We may have been victimized but we are now survivors who are working to be thrivers.

At Asociatia Umanitara Libertatea De Viata (Freedom of Life Humanitarian Association), our team consists of women who have been enslaved and exploited in the sex industry.  We have escaped from exploitation and bondage to now work in the cause of freeing other women in similar situations.

We want to be a catalyst for long term change in the lives of individual women.  We know unless given opportunities, training and education, women will remain vulnerable to exploitation.

We know that the solution starts with creating awareness of the problem.

We work to assist women in empowering themselves to not only survive but thrive in the confidence of being able to care for their families and escape from vulnerable situations.

According to “2017 Global Estimates of Modern Slavery” a report published in September 2017 by the International Labour Office and the Walk Free Foundation “women and girls are disproportionately affected by modern slavery, accounting almost 29 million, or 71 per cent of the overall total.”  Most disturbing: “Women represent 99 per cent of the victims of forced labour in the commercial sex industry and 84 per cent of forced marriages.”

WHO WE ARE:

  • We are women who have known the debasement of a boy friend, family member or partner “pimping us out” for their profit in prostitution or pornographic sex cam work.
  • We are women who have known the pain and agony of rape.
  • We are women who have had to make the painful choice between aborting a child and having them born into captivity and future exploitation.
  • We are women whose opportunities are limited because of the stigma of sex work.
  • We are women forced to remain in a country and in contact with our former exploiters through unfair child custody laws.

WE ARE SURVIVORS WHO INTEND TO THRIVE
